List view of options to place record into a portal

Featured Replies

Morning all.... I will attempt to explain my problem as best as I can, please bare with me. I built my solution a few years back and it's had a few tweaks since. I am now trying to give it a overhaul on the UI. On one of my layouts I have a portal which brings records from [RECIPE] records into a jointable [DISH_RECIPE] This is a many to many relationship: many recipes can be on many menus This has functioned okay - upon clicking on the last portal line a drop down showed a list of all the recipe title fields, pulling in the data from the recipes ID The issue I don't like is that there is thousands of recipe records. What I want to achieve is the portal to display the records in the join table [as it currently does] but to add records to it the user will be taken to a list layout of all the recipe records. From this list a user can select a record or multiple records [perhaps check box button] and commit them back to the portal. Like I said it's been a while since I've got into my solution properly - and so quite rusty! I believe I have the foreign key and primary key serials per record being generated which should allow me to pull and push the data like described. Does anyone have any ideas or have done anything similar to this? Many thanks Olly

Many thanks @becooney I will have a look later tonight on the fp7 file and see if this can give me my desired result. It sounds like this could be the ticket. Will let you know. Thanks again :)

Just to say a HUGE thank you. Although I really have no idea how the two scripts work in the posted file, I have modified their referring fields to achieve exactly what I needed. Totally chuffed! Thanks again - your time is massively appriciated Olly

Great, Olly. Take the time to understand the technique. It shows how to pass values back and forth well.
