Aussie John Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 This seems to have been discussed but the solution was a bit vague I would like store some images in the default remote container folder and show the image via a calculation (container). What file path should I use? I've tried image:/RC_Data_FMS/subfolders/filename" image:/ipAddress/RC_Data_FMS/subfolders/filename" and using get(filepath) it does work if I VPN into the server and use the full address but that is no good for users. (also imagemac versions) thanks
milanm Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 I am not sure if i understood well, but i can give it a try. Do you use the new and super cool ability of Containers in FileMaker 12 to store the files externaly in any local folder you choose and create the path automatically for you? If you dont, this should solve the problem. You just need to go to "Manage Database" find the container field and go to "Options", than 3rd tab that reads "Storage" and bottom part where it reads "Container". Pick the option that suits you best. If you choose "open storadge" you can specify the folder related to your file with any path you like and FileMaker will store the files there every time you load them as a reference in that container field. I would imagine that you already knew this but just in case, it solves so many image related problems easily.
Aussie John Posted July 23, 2013 Author Posted July 23, 2013 Thanks I want to manually place the file in to the remote container folder and use a calculation to display the image base on the record
