hello im still confuse how to use smtp can some give me a sample layout how SMTP works and send email with attachment

SMTP stands for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol, with emphasis on the word simple.

 

chadski012, I think you may have a basic misunderstanding of how Filemaker handles SMTP. With version 12 and earlier it can only send email messages of plain text.  It cannot embed a Filemaker layout into the body of an email message.

 

If you really need the look of a filemaker layout about the best you could do is have Filemaker make a PDF of the layout and have SMTP attach the PDF to the message. Be aware that it would be an attachment and would not appear in the body anywhere.

 

Now if you want the data only from your FM database that can be placed in the body section without too much work but the way your question is worded makes me think you are looking for formatting as well as data.
