Is there a calc other then if or case that can add a zero in front of a single digit.

This will do it (but not for negative numbers)

SetField["number1","Left("00", 2-Length(number1)) & number1"]

I'd be interested to know why?

Bob - Sweet! and thanks

Russell - because I have a date to text calc that builds a popup and I visually need things aligned for clean reading. Double digits for the month and date makes that happen.

Thanks again

How about a NON if calc for stringing three text fields together with a ' / ' seperator for only the fields that have values in them.

eg1 field1 / field2

eg2 field1 / field2 / field3

eg3 field1

Is this some kind of test? What do you have against If() functions? Okay, how 'bout:

field1 &

Choose(IsEmpty(field1) * 4 + IsEmpty(field2) * 2 + IsEmpty(field3), "/","/","/") &

field2 &

Choose(IsEmpty(field1) * 4 + IsEmpty(field2) * 2 + IsEmpty(field3), "/","","","","/") &

field3

But really!! A Case() or If() function would probably provide a cleaner solution in this situation.

You seem to have a fetish about If and Case statements. tongue.gif
