Matt Malyschko Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 I want to have a portal displaying records in the found set. For example: I have an Inventory table that has a self-relationship. I have a layout to show the full details of each record, and a layout that shows a list of inventory (through a portal). I have a side search area that filters this portal. However, I want to be able to allow users to be able to search all fields if they wish to - not just limited to those I have in the search area. So, I want to allow to enter find mode, perform the search, and then display it in the portal. I was hoping there was a way in FileMaker to determine if a record is in the current found set. I couldn't find a way to determine this. If this is possible my problem is easy in which I can do the find, and then filter records in the portal based on if it is in the found set. If this is not doable, is there another way to achieve this?
comment Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 Doable - yes, simple - no. Portals are designed to show the related set. In order to show a found set in a portal, you must first turn it into a related set by collecting the ID's of all found records and placing them in a matchfield.
