Hi all

Perhaps this is the wrong forum. I couldn't see a sub-forum for database discussions that aren't FileMaker.

Has anyone had experience with the Sabre GDS (or Amadeus) system? As I'm not an airport staff member or travel agent I cannot get access to such a system to check it out. I'm very interested in learning Sabre, or a similar command-line based system. Are there any forms of this software out there that is more easily accessible for someone such as myself to learn?

A friend of mine who works for the airlines said these systems are completely customized and made from scratch, and in the case of Sabre, been in the development since the 1950's. I figured that this type of system cannot just be exclusive to the travel industry.
