Exporting from FM Go 12 on iPad no longer working

Featured Replies

A new problem has popped up for me within the last few weeks where I'm having problems with exporting on the iPad.

I have a Go 12 solution that on demand exports a record set and attaches it to an email. I've gotten random complains from coworkers that it wasn't working and that there was no attachment to the email message that would pop up as usual. I wasn't having the problem at first, but then it started happening to me, too. I updated my iOs to the latest version (7.0.4) and it started working for me. Until the next day when it stopped working again. I thought maybe there was a problem with the filepath since I had set it to export to a temporary path, like:

Get ( TemporaryPath )  & TABLEDATA & ".xlsx"

I removed the "Get ( TemporaryPath )" part and it started working for me again, but would put the Excel document in the file list on the app home screen. Not the end of the world but not as desirable. At least it worked. For me. The two co-workers who were having the problem were still having it. So, I put in error capture steps and discovered that on the export step to create the report I was getting a code 3 error, [Command is unavailable (for example, wrong operating system, wrong mode, etc.)].

So, it would seem to be some sort of issue with exports. Anyone else have a similar problem and know of a solution? I can't explain why it works for me and not them with the only theory that there is some kind of permissions issue that they're running into that I'm not.

I believe what you are seem is a problem with fmgo and the iPad. If the iPad is not occasionally restarted, fmgo will have trouble creating files. This is especially true with PDF files. A restart is the only way that I know to solve this issue. I believe there is some kind of memory management issue going on. This was been reported to Filemaker but it would be helpful to report this issue again.

I've just had this with my iPad Air. The only fix was to delete FMGo 13 and reload it (saving my local files!). The strange thing was the fault did not stop PDFs from being saved!

I realise there was another sign of the problem. When I entered a host and pressed save it never remembered. Since the reload of the application this is fine.
