Hi ppl. I need to know if any one out there knows (if it's possible) to hide the menu bar on FM. We are creating a database management soft for educational institutions and we want to give it a more professional look by hiding this area of the screen. I found options to toggle status area, text area, etc., but can't find one to hide the menu bar. For example, on Word you can select "Full Screen" to hide this (although you can close this view if you want to ) and I was wondering if with FM this is possible... Any one?

No! You can’t – at least not in Fm. If your users are using Filemaker and not a developer solution then you can only stop them from using particular menu items with the access rights, but the menus themselves will still be visible.

Sorry,

You can hide the menu bar only by using plug ins: there are for both platform (MAC & WIN).

Take a look at the plug ins section at the FileMaker official site.

One of them has been written by David McKee who usually contribute to this Forum.

Best regards.

A Kiosk version will remove all menus and FM controls, so you'll have to provide your own. A company called New Millenium Software makes an easy to use plugin product called Secure FM that will remove individual items off any menu, as well as remove all the menus. The final result is not quite as visually appealing as the Kiosk, but is easier to use.

You can use a plugin, like mine or NM's, but probably the easiest answer for you is to just bind the files using the DevTool which is included in FM Developer.

After binding the files (you don't have to bind them to a runtime, just select the "kiosk" option), anytime a user opens the files using guest privilieges (no design privs like layout, valuelist or script) FileMaker Pro will activate kiosk mode, which hides the desktop and hides the menu bar.

Hope this helps!
