I have a field thats conditionally formatted BWIA2 FMP11 2::CUST number > "9000"

Then - turn background Red

 

The problem is, sometimes it works, other times when say the number is 11935 it doesn't work and actually sometimes acts in just the opposite way, ill have a less than 9000 number in the number field and the background will turn red...

 

Is this a known issue or is there a better way to do this?

Try removing the quotes from around 9000. FileMaker treats text and numbers differently with respect to >; by wrapping the number in quotes, you're effectively telling FileMaker to treat 9000 as text rather than as a number.
