Desmo Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 I may have missed a setting somewhere, but is it possible for emails to be sent in the background and to then carry on using filemaker whilst it is sending? We often have to email large files to clients and suppliers and it is no good if we have to wait and stop using filemaker whilst these are being sent. I am using Filemaker Server so could this task be offloaded to the server rather than the local client?
Joe Pampalon Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 This task can be offloaded to a FileMaker Server server-side script that runs on a schedule (say every 30 minutes), or if you are using FileMaker 13, you could use Perform Script on Server and uncheck the "Wait for completion" checkbox. If you do a server-side script that runs on a set time schedule, mark emails that need to be sent using a flag field, and have the script change the flag field after it sends the email. Otherwise, you will have to wait while the emails send from Filemaker Pro.
