November 5, 201411 yr This may not belong in this forum, but it is the nearest thing I could find. I had three files, created on my Mac, that I wanted to transfer to my friend's PC. One file copied OK, but the other two copied as Adobe Reader files. Anybody know why this happened?
November 6, 201411 yr Probably because those other two files are associated to Adobe Reader on the PC. On Windows, apps can set themselves as the default app for a particular extension. Ie, Adobe Reader is a pdf reader so will become the default reader for pdf files, unless you choose another app.
November 6, 201411 yr Author Perhaps, but the two that did not copy properly had a .fmp extension - the one that did copy had an .fp7 extension - BTW, both the Mac and the PC have FMP 11 installed. Also, no FMP files were on the PC until I tried to put them on today.
November 6, 201411 yr the two that did not copy properly had a .fmp extension .fmp extension is NOT associated with Filemaker Pro - so it's no wonder that the files weren't recognized as Filemaker Pro files.
