Quick find numbers wildcard

I've noticed that I can't seem to use a wildcard for quick find with numbers. Is there a way to do this?

You cannot use a wildcard for quick find with any data type:

 

The only operator supported by quick find is the match phrase operator, double quotation marks (" ").

You may want to script your own find.

Really? I remember doing quick find in FMP11 with numbers and it basically operated as if a wildcard was on the end. This is no longer the case.
