Access privileges w/ FMS

Featured Replies

How do you set access privileges with FM server? I tried opening them up manually (not through the hosts) but i think because each file has a relationship, it automatically links back to the host.

Ideas?

The only valid access for users is NO ACCESS at all!

I disagree. I have access privileges set up on one of my files from before my days of FM server and it works great with multiple user types. Just how do i change/enable now that i'm running the server.

Except for very global access features (tcp/ip and/or appletalk) access is controlled in the files, not by FM Server per se. To change access privileges, you must close the files in FM Server and open them with a normal copy of FM, then rehost them with server. You can't change access privileges (except for password substitution) while the files are hosted using server.

Original question was: How do you set access privileges with FM server?

I did answer that. Users have no rights to FM server.

FM database access is different story. My answer was not related to that.

Okay, so why is it that you can't modify access privileges, even if you are the exclusive user? This is gonna be a pain in the butt!

You must open directly the databases on your machine to change access level and global fields initial value.
