I am trying to put a filemaker database online. I know FM Pro 5.5 serves up to 10 people in 12 hours (not a lot of use) so I think I need unlimited. Do I also need server and develper? I would like a custom interface and gather I can design one using HTML and CDML or is it now XML?

Many thanks

Ric T,

You can put a database online with what you mentioned (5.5u). What sort of traffic are you looking at. If you are looking at a large amount of traffic then you will probably want to run server, linked to three machines each with 5.5u installed to spread the processing tasks around, and minimize the single thread limitation. Also probably web connector software (comes with filemaker v5.x). If you really want to get it right - also a web server. The web server serves your static HTML web content, thereby freeing up the other boxes to focus on filemaker tasks. I'm sure others can add to what I've said. Hope this helps.

I almost forgot, developer doesn't have anything to do with this. smile.gif" border="0

I hope you'll be getting a lot of traffic to justify setting up a dedicated machine with unlimted. Otherwise, you'll be better off having someone else host it for you
