Anybody built a mobile solution with Kiosk mode for FMGO on a phone?

What were your reasons for doing so?

What challenges did you have to overcome to deploy a kiosk solution on mobile phone?

What things can the user not do with Kiosk mode on the phone?

TIA,

Kris

I absolutely recommend kiosk mode for FileMaker Go where it is appropriate... It makes it a much more 'app' like experience for the user.

Just be aware that you should provide a means to exit the file with a button to 'Close Window', and you will also need to set up a non-admin user account that your users would use - you need this to make kiosk mode kick in anyway...

You can also hide toolbars etc so that you provide the entire UI for navigating and interacting with the solution...

When using a kiosk built solution on a phone is the incoming call behavior the same as non kiosk?

Can a user switch apps at will?

Does Kiosk mode affect how Go functions in hibernation state?

What happens when user clicks the home button on the phone?

Kris

Hi Kris,

I'm pretty sure that for all of those things it behaves just the same as a non-kiosk-mode file, and pretty much the same as any other app, i.e, calls come in, home button works as normal etc...

You can use 'Guided Access' within the iOS Accessibility settings to 'lock' the app open until a passcode is entered if you wish to prevent users switching to other apps etc... Or in a kiosk type setup, use an enclosure that physically denied access to the home button....
