May 9, 200223 yr hi there, as the subject says. i'm trying to make a top ten list. i need to have the position ei... 1st, 2d, 3rd and so on. the list will be sorted by a deal number so the records will go from highest to lowest. the only problem is getting the position to read the same for 2 or more records and stop after 10 positions. so if you had a total or 30 records, 1st , name, total 2nd , name, total 3rd, name , total 3rd, name , total 3rd, name , total 4th, name , total 5th, name , total 6th, name , total 7th, name , total 8th, name , total 9th, name , total 10th, name , total 10th, name , total all other records don't need to be shown. i hope this helpful Thank you

May 9, 200223 yr oh yeah. forgot about that (its morning) You'll have to make a report the does a find of the records that at less then the 10th place. That way it could do more then the 10, and you could possibly use subsummaries for ties too if you feel like being fancy.
May 9, 200223 yr How can the top ten have more than ten items? In races etc tied places are usually resolved by missing-out on the lower placings. So, in a race with tied-first there is no second place: First, First, Third.
May 10, 200223 yr If you have 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 and then 4 equal 9th places - you would have 12 places all less than 10. Sure, the next place would be 13th but you'd still have a list greater than 10. To get the list, I'd create a calc field to determine an inclusion text. Like: Include = if(Place<11,"Yes","No") then have a portal, sorted by place, which uses this "Include" field as the right side of the relationship. Or you could use a multi-line key field showing all the numbers from 1 to 10 for the placings.
