stac_1 Posted May 10, 2002 Posted May 10, 2002 Is it possible to remotely administer files hosted by Filemaker Server 5.0 using Developer 5.5? I have tried but I get "Server Admimistration not installed". I can't find how and where to install the "server administration" plug-in. - The server is using Mac OS 9.2.2 and Developer is v. 5.5 in Mac OS 10.1.4.
DykstrL Posted May 15, 2002 Posted May 15, 2002 The Server Administration plug-in is on the Server software CD. Launch the install, then select custom install. One of the options will be to install the Server Administration.
stac_1 Posted May 16, 2002 Author Posted May 16, 2002 Now, the server softwareI have is 5.0v2 and the developer application is v5.5... will the Server administrator software work?
IdealData Posted May 16, 2002 Posted May 16, 2002 Yup ! Get the latest download from FMI, 5.0v3 (Not 5.5, that's for FMServer 5.5 !) Works for me !
stac_1 Posted May 16, 2002 Author Posted May 16, 2002 I followed the instructions as indicated in the 'read me' file provided with the extention, but the icon looks as thought it only works in system 9 and I am still getting the "server administrator not installed" tag on the bottom of my administration window. I am using developer in OS 10.1.4. Is there an update for that system?
bbaliner Posted May 20, 2002 Posted May 20, 2002 you have to install Server Administeration directly from Server CD on your local machine (check "instal remote administartion only" during install. you then must enable the plug-in in your preferences. then go to file, open, click on your server, type in the password, and open remote admin files, and you're in business. then go biking!
IdealData Posted May 20, 2002 Posted May 20, 2002 Sorry, I miss read your original post. Seems that as 5.0 was not a X rated product there is no 'X' admin plug-in for 5.0. I've got FMPD 5.5 with admin plug-in 5.5.1 and FMS 5.0. Whilst it does run, it claims that the plug-in is the wrong version. You can get the overview stuff, but you can't administer.
