Charity Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 (edited) Most horrible thing happened. I picked out icons and put them on my layouts and they are very cool. Then I close file and come back and they all say file not found. How can file not be found when I put them on my layout? I did not keep the files. What is happening please? I updated my OS few days back. Did it break the way png files are stored? Is there any way to get these back? I did not use containers if that matters. I was using Insert Picture Edited May 18, 2015 by Charity
Charity Posted May 18, 2015 Author Posted May 18, 2015 Ok I have to stop because I get up very early and I think it is because of the type of pictures and I have folders and pages and pages on the different types and it is very confusing so I will have to regroup. I thought if I put a picture on the layout it was part of the layout and if it displayed that meant it was fine. There is no file to find so I am obviously over my head. TTFN and thank you for trying but I think it is user error somehow.
comment Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 (edited) I was using Insert Picture When you use Insert > Picture… you get the choice to 'Store only a reference to the file`. If this option is checked, and the file is subsequently moved to another location, Filemaker won't be able to find it. I did not keep the files. The smart thing to do is to keep a backup of the files - even if you have inserted them as embedded in the file, just in case the (Filemaker) file becomes corrupt and needs to be reconstructed from scratch. Most horrible thing happened. Oh? How many casualties? Edited May 18, 2015 by comment 1
Charity Posted May 18, 2015 Author Posted May 18, 2015 (edited) I did not see that checkbox. My pictures are in the trash thank goodness so no casualties. I back up every four hours and this was done in 3:58 hour go figure but it took me 3 hours. You saved me. Thank you as always, Comment. I put those pictures in a folder and keep them now.
