AndreasBoehmer Posted July 28, 2001 Posted July 28, 2001 I just noticed that if I display Text in BREAK-Format on my website, all '' in the records are being eliminated. They just aren't displayed on screen! But I want the Backslash to be displayed. Is there any way to get around this?
Vaughan Posted July 30, 2001 Posted July 30, 2001 A few more details will help: Instant or custom web publishing? Is the host machine a Mac or Windows? Is the browser a Mac or Windows?
AndreasBoehmer Posted July 31, 2001 Author Posted July 31, 2001 Ah, I see why it happens, but i don't know how to change it! I forgot that I am running the entry through a javascript before putting it out to the screen. This must be where the backslash is being eliminated. If I enter two backslashes after eachother, one of them is being displayed. I am afraid of the answer, but do I see it right that, if I want to keep running the article through javascript, I will have to replace every "" with ""?
Garry Claridge Posted July 31, 2001 Posted July 31, 2001 Andreas, You can try the Javascript without the escape and unescape functions. I think they may now be redundant with the improved search pattern. I just tried it with my version of the url replacement script, and it seemed to work fine. Worth a go. Garry
AndreasBoehmer Posted August 1, 2001 Author Posted August 1, 2001 Hi Garry, I have tried that, but it doesn't seem to change anything. What I did was take every "escape" and "unescape" out of the script. We do have the same code, don't we?
Garry Claridge Posted August 1, 2001 Posted August 1, 2001 Whoops, I was testing with "/" not "". Back to the drawing-board. Garry
