Webdirect, List view, Popovers with containers

I've been digging around to see if this is a known limitation but I can't see to find any reference that it is.

Scenario:

Simple flat DB presented in WebDirect.

Layout is in List view.

Popover button on layout that displays just a picture in a container.

 

Popover will not open in WD.  if I take the container out, the popover opens fine.  If I switch to form view, the popover opens fine with the container.

Does anyone know if this is a limitation with List view and WD?  I've dug around but can't see a yes or no to this answer.
