keeping exist auto-enter data when importing from a database

Featured Replies

g'day

i am trying to import data from an existing database into a new database & would like to retain the original databases auto-enter data

ie. i would like to keep the creation date, modification date, created by and modified by from the original file when importing into the new file

is this at all possible

thanks heaps

When you import records into a table that has fields with auto-enter data, you will see the Import Options dialog box asking whether to "Perform auto-enter options while importing". Deselect this to keep the imported data.

Note that if you have a serial number field, you will need to set the next serial value to prevent duplicates being created after the import. And, of course, this is assuming the import itself does not create duplicate numbers.
