LVA Posted June 5, 2002 Posted June 5, 2002 I have a Filemaker system with 32 files and I have different passwords with different privileges for 15 users. Everytime I have to change the passwords and privileges I have to do it going though all 32 files. Is there an easier way of changing the password, like using a script or something else ,so that I don't need to go through all the 32 files ?
Vaughan Posted June 5, 2002 Posted June 5, 2002 There is a plugin (dialog magic I think) that can automate the process, but otherwise: that's it! We all have to do it!
IdealData Posted June 5, 2002 Posted June 5, 2002 I have a similar situation (40+ files, 30 users) so soometime ago I rationalised the password distribution. I placed individuals into groups of similar people and reduced to 9 passwords. I have also added a PIN number system that allows me to grant specific task privileges to individuals regardless of their pasword groupage - I can also make these changes "live" as my system is heavily scripted. It's a "hangin" offence here to disclose either password or PIN, and I've only changed them once in 2 years. Alas, Vaughan is right, it's just a pain in the @!&*$
