Numeric Keypad with tab or macro keys??

Featured Replies

Does anybody know if there are any USB numeric keypads out there that have a tab key (or programmable keys)? This would be awesome for entering inventory (or other numeric applications) in a FileMaker database.

I saw an advert last weekend for a palm-sized USB numeric keypad with built-in calculator and a retractable 0.9m (3 foot) USB cable. I'll have a dig through the recycling bin tonight to see if its still at home.

BUT, from memory it cost $A117 and considering that you can buy an older style iMac Apple coloured keyboard with numeric keypad for around $A50, you'd have to be real interested in "small-is-better" to fork out > twice as much.

I've been looking for small USB numeric keypads for some time now, to use with laptops for my race timing systems for data entry, but have eventually gone the iMac keyboard style - mainly for the previous $$ reasons.

I found an old issue of FileMaker Advisor and it had a great answer to my question!

1st. Decide why you want the tab key or macro key...

then... put that into a looping script ending with a pause.

Start the script. Now every time you hit "Enter", the script will run (moving to the next field for example), then pause.

COOL!
