  1. 2 DB's (Customer List and Active Projects). I have set a relationship to Company-Company and Project Manager-Project Manager. In the Active Project DB, I wish to view the name of the company and specific project manager's name. Not a problem with the company. I set a Value List and it looks up all of the Companies back in "Customers". Same with the Project Managers, however, it shows everyone's name. How can I set this up, that once I set the Company, the only persons that appear in my Project Manager field are one specific just to that company, and not every person?
  2. I published a database which requires users to create a single, new record from their browsers. I have "Hide/Lock" the Status WIndow and provided buttons with scripts to take them to the next layout. Something funny happens when a user creates a new record and it only happens in Safari. After they create the new record (whether they have entered any data), you can use your Browser Back button which takes you back to Record #1. This means that someone else can modify another's record. Well, only record #1. What causes this and why is Record #1 safe browsing in IE?
  3. Is there a way to begin printing labels to an Avery sheet without starting at the first label? I may print 2 or 3 file folder labels a session. I currently track projects in FMP and print the file folder label in a MacSoft product, Labels and Cards Mac. It works but it has the feel of an OS 9 program. Would the series of roll style (Brother Turbo) be better for this task? I can't believe after all of these years that this is not a standard printing feature in FMP. A plug-in or something.
  4. I have a client that publishes a database using FMP v.6 on the web. It is controlled by another database only by admin. While the client DB can be accessed through an HTML page easily, the other DB, let's call it DBADMIN relates to DBCLIENT. Without using links on the HTML pages used to access DBCLIENT, how would I directly access (address) DBADMIN on the internet? www.mydomain.com:FMP_port#/what else? Keep in mind that DBCLIENT and DBADMIN are both located in the same FMP/Web folder. I've been using IWP in FMP7 which uses an completely different addressing scheme.
  5. I have several scripts written to export data from my contact database (FMP 6.0v4). The exact fields being exported, or their order might change from script to script. Is there a way to "lock" those export fields and their order for just that script? Currently when I export and change the required fields add or subtract, when the export script runs, I have it pause and the right column has the fields from a previous export, so I have to start over each time. It sounds like a simple request, but I can't figure it out.
  6. My wife has a major client that requires project management using MS Access. Their office is 100% Mac and they use FileMakerPro currently. She supplied me with some files from the client (They have a suffix of ".mdb"). I tried to convert them using FMP v6.0. I got a successful conversion, but the records were full of characters that made little sense. Is there anyway that FMP can use Access files? Thanks.
  7. Hmm...This makes sense and seems pretty easy. Thanks!
  8. This is similar to a previous post only different. I have database of contacts and a seperate DB of fax cover sheets/memos. I have a relationship using last names in the fax cover DB that automatically fills in the first name, company, and fax number for reference and printing. My problem is that I have several customers with the same last name (and not Smith either). As I've read and as happens, the Fax Cover DB only returns one "Smith" even though there are different records with different first names/companies. Any real simple ideas that a non-database person can grasp? Thanks!
  9. Thanks. It works, except that it return every contact. That's because most of the Follow Up Date fields are empty, but I can work on this. BTW-How's Junior Seau's knee going to be?
  10. I have a Sales Lead contact DB (FMP v6.0.3). I have created a field which I can set a Follow-up Date which could be two weeks or a year from the record's modification date. I am trying to find a Script that will 1) Find all of the contacts in my file where the current (Today's) date is greater than the "Follow Up Date". Basically create a list view of all of the contacts that require follow-up. I know that I will kick myself because it sounds easy. I just can't figure it out. thanks.
  11. I converted an Excel spreadsheet used as a contact database. The author lumped the entire contact's name into one field. My master DB has these split out First Name, Last Name as most people prefer. This has got to be an age old problem. Any scripts floating around?
  12. These are all good ideas, but it brings up a few questions. 1) Are there 1/3 cut file folder lables available for the Seiko printer? 2) Can you print from FMP to one of these label appliances? 3) Not networkable, that doesn't seem to create a huge difficulty as long as they are USB capable, any knowledge on the interface? 4) I have been using TouchBasePro, Avery LabelPro and Desktop LabelPro for a million years. All allow for starting at any position on the sheet. I use ink jet and laser printes and have never encountered any problems. I recently had a new fuser installed in my LW8500 and it was over $500.00, not due to labels. I should probably heed your warnings though, because it would only take one label. Thanks for the help! quote: Originally posted by captkurt: I gotta go with LiveOak's #3 on this one. Even if you are only printing the occassional odd label, and mostly full sheets, the effort to get this working is often more than the cost of a single label printer. The small Seikos and such are great for the desktop as they are small and quite. Correct me if I am wrong, but the only problem with them is that they are NOT networkable.
  13. I have a project tracking database for recording leads and potential sales. I need to create file folders for each project to cache any paperwork. I may only create four or five folder labels at a time. It would be a natural to have a layout for printing these label from FMP but I don't want to waste an entire sheet of labels. Is there an answer that lest you print from a specified label position on a sheet of labels? I now have to export the data to DeskTopLabels Pro in order to accomplish this task. Thanks.
