I have a project where I need to make a value list of dates based on start date and end date. Once I have a value list I can then select a value position based on other criteria. a date range on the record may be: (start) 1/1/2014 to 4/15/2014 (end) The list created would always be for the first day of each month for the duration of the date range: 1/1/2014 2/1/2014 3/1/2014 4/1/2014 I'd like this to occur as a calc or CF, I'd rather not script this to create a variable because there may be a few hundred needed to generate. Thanks, David

Has anyone had success pushing the silent install on Filemaker 13? both myself and two others have been trying but we can't seem to make it happen. Following the KB on it to the letter as best I can determine. http://help.filemaker.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/7070/kw/silent%20install/related/1 modified setup.ini as instructed. [startup] CmdLine= /qb+ Installing from a local dir to test its working: C:TESTFMP13setup.exe /S /v/qn using command line switches as defined in KB.. Watching the process tab, I see Msiexec.exe is launching but FM 13 never installs. I looked at the command line paramenters on the setup.exe file itself. command Line Parameters /L language /S Hide inititailization dialog for silent mode use: /S /v/qn /V parameters to MsiExec.exe /UA <url to InstMsiA.exe> /UW <url to InstMsiW.exe> /UM <url to msi package> /US <url to lsScript.msi> win 7 pro, FMAdv 13 already installed. Running CMD window as admin using the command line command. I removed the INI switches, double click and the package starts and installs fine through registation, which is when I cancel it so I may keep testing a silent install. Advice or suggestions, successes, alternate methods would be helpful. Thank you ! David

Hi: I've been having a one man brainstorming session for several months now and I'm down to the wire and could use some fresh ideas if any are to be had. I work for a magazine publisher. I develop custom solutions for my employer and I'm working on an upgraded version of a CRM solution with Sales Order module to create insertion contracts. We sell ad space across a few media now, Print, Online (web and email), Digital Enhancements (digital editions of our print magazines with items like links, videos, etc.. Historically, our contracts have been separate for each media because they don't always contain the some columns of data as a rule. with this new CRM, I've been asked to see if I can bring all the media to one contract for ease of presentation and ability to sell as a package type deal. We could have up to 3 or 4 different insertion (ad) grids on a contract. I've mocked up what we currently use and I'm perplexed on how to impliment a similiar model using layouts using FMP 12. THE ad/order detail is stored in one table in CRM, classified by a type (Print,Online,Digital,Event) and I've been racking my brain trying to determine the best approach to designing a contract that won't require a page for each insertion grid type. So far, I've come up with 3 portals filtered by media type, that would display the detail. Sales staff however, in the older web based system they use, can choose to hide or display columns of data as needed for the contract and is a feature they feel very much needed in the new CRM's contract design functionality. The attached mock up shows how we currently lay them out when more than one media type ad is sold. we could opt top move them all to the last page as "attached schedules". My goal here would be to try to design a layout that would be to design a contract that won't require a page for each insertion grid type. Often times, 3 grids could physically fit one one page, rarely, would it break onto two pages. Any ideas by some old layout professionals, plug-ins or other ideas would be greatly appreciated. thank you, David Roth Contract_Mockup.pdf

Hi: I'm evaluating this plugin for a CRM app. The solution will be hosted on a FMSA 11 server, clients FM 11 Windows based for now. A request has been made to see if we can have the CRM app connect to an exchange mailbox and pull copies of any emails on the account into the database itself. By design, I would probably have users create sub folder off the INBOX called CRM Import and have the system import emails in that folder alone, then run a matching script to associate the email with an account in their name on the system. My question is, if this plugin is installed on the FM Server, which is inside our network would an IMAP connection be created from the server, or would the IMAP connection be created from the client? On the lan, we host IMAP so a connection created from the server would work, externally however, we do not so if the connection is created at the client app, then it would not work) thanks

Hi: I have an SQL table I am pulling data from. I have multiple values in single fields I want to export as seperate records. I have created a calucation field to make a tab seperated text string. The idea is to export this single field for each record and this field would export as if it were 2 records. The tabs are recogized when the exported but the carriage returns (pilcrow in quotes or without quotes) appear as square blocks in the TAB file I am creating when a return is needed. Calc Field: Case ( RepCounts = 2 ; SplitRep1_Name &" "& Round ((dec_sizeValue * SplitRep1Percent);2) &" "& Round ((Net * SplitRep1Percent); 2) &"¶" & SplitRep2_Name &" "& Round ((dec_sizeValue * SplitRep2Percent);2) &" "& Round ((Net * SplitRep2Percent); 2) ; RepNames&" "& Round(dec_sizeValue;2) &" "& Round (Net ; 2) ) this example has two sales reps, that have a percentage of an ad sold. The calc field is listing both reps respective percentage of the sale itself. Order has a 1pg ad at 10,000 the Export String is to generate: Rep A.55,000 Rep A.55,000 (the last return is added when the export occurs) I get this: RepA .5 5000 [color:red]SQUARE SYMBOL RepB .5 5000 The tabs are part of the export but the Pilcrow doesn't export as a carriage return, just this square. Can anyone provide assistance?

FPSA 9 Scheduled Scripmaker Script Issue
rothdavid replied to rothdavid's topic in Legacy FileMaker Server Discussions
That is great suggestion. Here I am playing around with several plugins when I could build a simple db that opens up, runs the script in another db, then closes itself... Thanks for the Brain Check !! David -
Hi: I am trying to automate an export via a scriptmaker script in a database I have. On the schedules window under last Run Status, it says "scriptmaker script aborted". I made a second test script that simply goes to a layout and saves the current record in PDF format.. that one produces the same Last Run Status error? If I run these scripts via a client connection, they run fine. The server however, is aborting the script for some reason. Am I missing something? Server: Win2003, FMPSA 9.03, Schedule logging in with full access privs. Thanks David R

Vaughn: There are 4 accts, 2 Admin, 1 guest and 1 IT Staff acct. 2 Priv sets, Full Access and read only. The admins have the Full Access Priv set and the Guest (which is disabled) and the IT Staff both have Read Only privs. Neither of the Priv sets are enabled for IWP. David

I just upgraded from 8.5 to 9. I have 7 dbs hosting, 5 Enabled IWP access, 2, I only want access using a client (fmnet). I have made sure none of the user accts have IWP access checked. When I go to the default IWP webpage, 1 of the databases is on the list. The other one is not listed. I can't login under any account which is good, I don't want this db to show up on the list however. Restarted and recovered the file... still shows up. Any ideas why? Thanks David in SW Florida

Hi: I am working on a Purchase Order db (fmp 8.5 advanced, w-xp) and I want to limit the text description to 30 characters, no more. I put max length on the field setup but it doesn't flag users that they have exceeded thirty characters until they leave the field. Optimally, I would like the system to pop up a window that tells them when Character limit has been reached while typing in the field, not once they leave. Any suggestions? Thanks David R SW Florida

Hi: Im stumped on adding 3 years to a date I have stored in a database. I used the model in the FMP 5 help file and it doesnt work for me at all. Fields are : QualDate (Date Field) and the one I need to calc 3 additional years to is named QualDateExpires (which I made a calcuation field that should add 36 months to the date in field: QualDate and return the result into the Calc field: QualDateExpires. From the example, I've tried this in the calc field: Year(Date(Month(QualDate) + 36, Day(QualDate),Year(QualDate))) I test using 1/1/2004 in the qual date and it returns 6-30-0006 ?? Can someone show me where I've gone wrong?

BUIlDING AN UPDATABLE SOLUTION
rothdavid replied to Steven H. Blackwell's topic in Importing & Exporting
I have six extensive databases. Our sales force have new laptops and now when not at the office, would like their data on a local copy of Filemaker databases, they can add and change records in. Then when they go to the office, send the updated records to the main database. The bad part is that the office records may also contain updating fields within the same records as various office staff make changes to the records as well. Does anyone have a similar functionality issue? We've went High Speed with Static IP Addresses and for those reps with such home access, can connect to the FMP server in the office, but there are two that can't so now they want to know when I can make filemaker work like their PDA software and update automatically once connected to the server at the office. Any help would be appreciated. David -
Thanks captkurt !! You answered my question. Know I understand what needs to be done. David
