Hi Everyone, I am using FileMaker Pro 5.0v3 on a W2K server to share 8 databases that web forms plug in to. Seven of the eight work great, but one of these databases does not work well. After being open for about a day or so, someone will go to the form online and will get the following message: Database Not Open: Unable to process your request because the database "staffapplication.fp5" is not open. The problem here is that the database is open. When I go to the server it is up and runs fine. I either have to close the database and reopen it, or close the entire application and reopen all eight databases, and then the web form will work fine again - for awhile. Of the eight databases, this one is by far the largest. It has about 150 fields. However, there are generally never more than a couple records at a time. Does anyone have any tips toward troubleshooting this? Yes, upon another read I see your remark was not phrased as a question. The point is that I got lost. Thank you for clearing that up. I should have originally specified that this is experienced by all users at all locations. So it's not a browser issue. We were coming from different directions, which is why I misinterpreted your advice. This obviously frustrated you, but I would still appreciate any further advice anyone could offer. Thanks to everyone for their replies. A few extra things I've noticed. This seems to be happening consistently to the same database. Also, not only is it producing this error, but someother features directly in the application are not working. When I click on "Sharing..." in the File menu, nothing happens. Also, the menu item which is usually "Access Privileges" instead reads "Change Password" but is greyed out. And "Delete All Records" is greyed out, as well. Closing and re-opening the database clears up all the problems. I am using the lastest versions of both FM and WC. To answer Anatoli's question, I share using Multi-User with all three Companion Sharing options checked (Local Data Access Companion, Remote Data Access Companion, and Web Companion). Unfortunately I got lost on Unable's question. These databases were not actually developed here, but by the client for whom I host them. I clicked on my Preferences menu and only had "Application" and "Document", not "Cache". Thanks again for everyone's help! Chris

Hi, I am running FileMaker Pro 5.0v3 on a Windows 2003 server. It is hosting 8 Filemaker Databases using CDML to create web forms on a website. Occasionally, one of the web forms will bring up an error dialog that the form cannot be opened because the database is not open. Once I find out about the error, I go onto the server, close the database and immediately re-open it, and the error is resolved. Does anyone know how I can prevent this error from occurring? Hello all, I am trying to share files using Filemaker Pro 5.0v3. I have turned on the Local and Remote Data Access Companions, and am using TCP/IP as my Network Protocol. For each of three files I have open, I have activated the Local and Remote Data Access Companions in Companion Sharing under Multi-User. When trying to open these files remotely, I select Hosts and then I specify the host name. Repeatedly, and from different locations, this file list always comes up blank. Can anyone offer my any ideas as to what I am doing wrong? Many thanks for your help. Chris

Hello, I need to take a FM5 database (from a Macintosh) and plug it into a website being hosted off of a Windows 2000 server. Can anyone tell me which applications I need to buy to do this? I'm sure I need Filemaker 5 Server on the Windows machine, but what tools will I need to do work on my machine (Windows 2000 Pro)? Does everything I need come with the Server edition, or will I need to buy one of the clients (i.e. FM5, FM5 Unlimited, FM5 Developer...). I haven't seen much to help me make this decision.
