  1. OK - I've just worked around the problem using CRON to schedule the AppleScript at a particular time. But wouldn't it be nice to be able to trigger external scripts from a FileMaker script running on the server?
  2. Any idea how would I go about triggering an AppleScript from FMS 11? The FileMaker Applescripting step isn't compatible with FMS, so I can't use that and I have no idea how to set up a system-level script to trigger the script. Can't find anything in the documentation ... yet! cheers - Anatole
  3. ... and which method, might I ask, would be the fastest? I find that the portal sorts are usually horridly slow. thanks - Anatole
  4. You should be able to setup the online database to only accept a connection from your IP address, which would limit the security issue somewhat. It is password protected too, so it should not present a major security headache - especially since the database is presumably only containing data that is available online anyway. If you just want to read the data from the database, then you could do it via a web viewer in FileMaker as an alternative. We have been running such a database linked up in this way for several years. Good luck with it.
  5. I have the same problem. I can only access fmsadmin on the server itself (even after restarting the server). The database and the webserving seems to work OK so I haven;t done anything, but on the fmsadmin console it says there has been an error connecting to the web engine and it say that it is not running. I can try to start it, but then after a minute or two it returns an error and reports it as stopped.
  6. I have an interfacing challenge. I would like to produce a layout (or series of layouts) that give the ability to expand several portals to fit their contents. e.g. Where a list of orders for a particular job contains four orders, when you click on the header (button) the header expands to show the four orders. In other words I need to be able to take the number of records for the portal and use it to adjust the size of the portal. Anyone out there with any ideas?
