  1. Is that what all those fireworks I saw on the Fourth of July was about? All I can say is, this Thread has been one of the most helpful in solving a real pain of a problem I have had for at least 3 years. My hat is off to all of you and thanks so much! Maxcy Dickson
  2. Garry, Thanks for the response. Yes I do have tried that as part of the HMTL vice using a HTML Form to fill in. Thanks ... Maxcy
  3. Use PC-W2000 with FMP-5.5: I have been trying to get a web based solution for adding new records to a relational db portal. I have two dbs #1 Master and #2 Support. I have a relationship and associated portal in the Master DB to the Support DB. To date I have not been able to add new records via the Master DB portal to the Support DB by means of a HTML Form using the "-edit" or "-new" action tags. I have tried to use the current portal row number of "0" as the example documented in the FMP Developer 5.0 documentation: <Input type="text" Name="master portal::ID Number.0"> I know I could create the record directly in the Support DB, but I would prefer to do it directly in the Master DB for simplicity of coding. I assume this is suppose to work ... it seems with FMP-CDML ... You Never Know. Thanks, MaxcyD P.S.: If you know of any example solutions on the web to this, could you point me to them......Thanks again.
  4. I am using FMP5.0 on a PC and am using the FMP5.0 internal database security setting/permissions for accessing a CDML Website. I have set up one Password to allow access to the whole database pluse one additional field in the database for viewing and editing. I have set up another Password (nopassword-blank) to allow those users access to the rest of the DB fields except the additional field above (hidden). Since FileMaker defaults to using "nopassword" when set up in its security/permission setting, how do I get the browser to prompted for a Password so those users that need access to the additional "hidden" field can get to it? I realize that if I do not allow the "nopassword" users to edit the records via security/permissions, that I can force a Password Prompted? Any Ideas?
  5. Thanks for taking the time to look at the question.... Maxcy
  6. Vaughan I think I am ready to give up! I have looked at all my code, FMP List values, and even tried using Auto-web-publish in FMP. The code looks fine and matches what I use on FMP 4 (WIN). As for the values of the List, I even created a list of values from "5..4..3..2..1". Then I used the Automatic Web Publishing capability of FMP 5 and still got the physical data sort comming out as an "ascending" structure. Oh, well .... any last words? I would like to thank you for all you assistance. I must admit, its great to have these type of BB to 1) See other people using the CDML capability and 2) Knowing that there is help out there. Maxcy
  7. Vaughan, I have done as you suggested and did the re-installs as I last talked about. Its still a no-go. Something just occured to me.....Are you using a MAC version of FMP 5.0v3. I am using Windows version. Thanks for the help, Maxcy
  8. Since no one else is having the problem - Then you are right, the problem is on my side. That is good to know! As for the sorting ascending and descending ... they both work. I use the [FMP-CurrentSort] with a custom sort and it shows I get a custom sort but the actual physical result is ascending. I think I will try downloading WebComp 5.0v6 and see if maybe the original download and updating got scrogged / took a bit hit or something. And if that doesn't work, I will reinstall the FMP software again. I really do appreciate your responses. Thanks, Maxcy
  9. List of Know Problems With FMP 5.0v3 & Web Companion5.0v6? Does anyone know of a list of, or documentation on Know Problems With FMP 5.0v3 & Web Companion5.0v6? Your assistance would be greatly appreciate. Thanks, Maxcy Dickson (Wayne, PA, USA)
  10. quote: Check you are using and the latest version of Web Companion [ November 11, 2001: Message edited by: Vaughan ] -------------------- Vaughan, Thanks for the comments. I do have both the latest 5.0 S/W version (FMP 5.0v3) and WebCom version WebCom (5.0v6). I believe my coding is correct. The exact same code works in my FMP 4.0 dbs. Are you able to do custom sorts? If so, maybe I need to reinstall the S/W again and see if that might work. Any idea?......Anyone? Thanks, Maxcy Dickson (Wayne PA, USA)
  11. I am having a problem with web based Custom sorts with CDML code: ....&-sortfield=parma&-sortorder=custom=parmalist.... It works fine in FMP4.0 but not in 5.0? Is there a known FMP 5.0 problem? I am sure it couldn't be me...... Thanks, Maxcy Dickson
