  1. Eerie... I was just checking out their site when I got your email. Actually, they came up first in a Google search. Thanks again.
  2. Perhaps I should investigate other hosting options. I was pretty sure this was a bad idea but I figured it was worth posting the question here before I made any suggestions to the site owner. Thanks for your input, everyone.
  3. I'm being asked to develop a web site where much of the content will be drawn from a FileMaker database. The site owner will be able to add, edit and delete content by using forms that hit on the database. The problem is that where the site is being hosted (a shared server that is serving up many databases for many other sites) I won't be able to use the Web Security Database or FileMaker's Access Privileges to control security. Users will still need to log in to view the site or make changes and I've made a simple user database to store usernames, passwords, etc. to control access while browsing the site but I can't think of a way to prevent FileMaker-savvy hackers from touching the database content by entering commands through the web browser's address line. Does anyone have any suggestions?
  4. Interesting. I hadn't considered the print driver. I'm actually not printing directly to a printer but to a PDF. You would think the Adobe driver would be pretty good but when I print to an HP LaserJet all pages print fine. Now I'll have to see if there's an updated Adobe driver. I'm also going to upgrade to Acrobat 5. I'll keep you all posted. Thanks for the replies. Keith
  5. Yeah, I tried it with a calculation, but the results don't always look too good. The last sentence doesn't always end near the right margin and the column heights are always different depending on how many extra carriage returns there are. Judging from my own experience and the replies on this and other support groups, I've determined that this is basically impossible. Oh well, thanks for the input! Keith
  6. Yeah, I've tried moving things around, and even recreated the layout on a PC but nothing seems to work. Even if I put just a small EPS file on the 7th, 8th or 9th page it doesn't print. Is this a bug?
  7. I have a layout that is the equivalent to nine 8.5x11 pages. On each page is an Illustrator EPS file that measures 8.5x11 and contains mostly text. Sitting on top of them are fields that get populated by the database at the time of printing. On a Mac all pages print fine, the EPS and database supplied text all show up as they should. When I perform the same print on a Windows NT machine the database supplied text prints fine but the EPSs disappear on pages 7, 8 and 9. Why? Also, on a different layout, again 9 pages, I have a long field that crosses the last 4 pages (It holds lots of text). Again, on a Mac, the page breaks are all correct but on a PC it messes them up and even prints some of the text in the headers and footers. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Keith
  8. I've got 3 pages of text that I need to print in 2 columns per page from a single layout. All the text comes from one field. I can't figure out how to get the copy to flow from one column to another and then break to the next page. Any suggestions?
