  1. Thanks for your input but your solution did not work. I've tried everything and don't know where to go next. Any other ideas?
  2. FileMaker Pro7 has been running on Windows XP Home Edition with no problems. I now have XP Pro and am not able to connect to the Mac FMP server to access the databases. I get the message: Filemaker cannot be a client or share a file because the networking stack cannot be initialized. My TCP/IP network is working fine- I can ping all networked computers, I can browse the network, and I can send/receive email. I reinstalled FileMaker but it didn't make a difference. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can look for. Firewall on the PC or Mac? Thanks, Bonnie
  3. I'm having a similar problem. When I open the Filemaker PRO 7 application and click on the remote I get this error: Filemaker cannot share or be a client of a file because the networking stack cannot be initialized. Any suggestions? Be kind, I'm not a novice on the computer or Filemaker but am a novice on networking issues. Thanks.
  4. I have installed FMP7 on a new Dell and want to connect to the remote server, a Mac OS X. When I click on Remote it gives me this message: Filemaker cannot share or be a client of a file because the networking stack cannot be initialized.I've been in contact with Dell and they can't help indicating it's a software problem. My son, who works with PCs & Macs looked at it. We have downloaded new drivers, installed a new NIC card and updated to the latest version of FMP7. Nothing works. He says it must be an issue with Filemaker. I'm currently connecting remotely from Macs & other PCs to the server and have no problem. Can anyone help me with this?
  5. Sorry I never got back to you. I was able to use a backup I had made with little updating to do. Thanks for the input.
  6. My database with 3900 records became damaged. I was not at work when it happened so have no history. When I used the Recover command it crashed Filemaker. We have Mac OS X at work and that's where I attempted to recover it. So I did a backup, brought it home and tried to recover it on my PC, Windows XP. No luck, it still crashed Filemaker. Any suggestions?
