  1. Many thanks - that worked. Logical to some I suppose, but it would have helped my simple mind, though, if the Checkbox was labelled "Log in automatically using..."
  2. Each time I open a file I've been working on, it opened without a login window. Then, after having been to the "File Options" window and unchecked "Login using:" now when I open the file it always displays the login window. Any tips how I can fix this?
  3. Thank you Lee for taking the trouble - it works perfectly. I am forever in your debt.
  4. This sounds like something I'm trying to achieve. Problem is - and to my shame - I only have FM Developer 6 (yes, I will upgrade soon). Is it possible, Lee, for you to paste the script as text into the forum? It would be much appreciated.
  5. I need to do a script that will assign a background color to a specific field (or container) based on a selected item in a value list. Is this possible (in FM6)?
  6. Problem solved: for some reason, when installing the update, Font Book duplicates some fonts - it seems that these duplicates slow down FM performance considerably if the fonts are used in the database. Disabling the duplicates solves the problem.
  7. I recently installed Security Update 2005 - 003 for Mac OS X 10.3.8, since when FileMaker has slowed down considerably - everything: button links, menus, tools, etc. Has anyone else experienced this?
  8. Thanks Steve - not familiar with WinBatch. Does the .exe run from a button in the kiosk solution?
  9. On a Mac, is there any way of getting back to the desktop while in Kiosk mode without quitting the app. I know it's possible in Windows, but is it on a Mac?
  10. Is there a way of allowing users to change the font or font style in a field in a Runtime app running in kiosk mode?
  11. Thanks - I'll use an installer app in future. But which is the easiest to use (as a developer): Stuffit Installer Maker or InstallerWISE?
  12. When I recently tested a Runtime application (made in Developer 6) that I installed from a CD onto a Mac (running OS 9.2), it replaced the following extensions in my System Folder: Microsoft OLE Automation (v2.20) Microsoft OLE Library (v2.22) with earlier versions of the same extensions (v2.08). This meant that when I next launched Internet Explorer and Excel, I was prompted to reinstall both. Has anyone else experienced this? Seems odd that FileMaker included earlier versions of the extensions on their latest version of Developer.
  13. The only way I got round the "Read Only" properties problem in Win 98 (following excellent advice from this forum) was to use Stuffit to make a self-extracting archive of my entire solution folder. Launching this from the CD forces the user to unstuff the folder to their hard drive (anywhere they choose). The result is that the properties of all files within the folder are intact (i.e. NOT Read Only). On the Mac side, it's amazing how many people try to run the solution directly from the CD, completely ignoring instructions telling them not to. So it's probably advisable to use Stuffit for the Mac as well, thereby forcing users to copy the files to their hard drive before they can use the solution.
  14. If I understand you correctly, you made a copy of your .fm5 file (File > Duplicate - or a duplicate from within FileMaker?) then proceeded with Developer Tool as normal. I just tried this and it didn't work. Still get "Unexpected Quit".
  15. Is it possible to include a "Find" script for use in a Kiosk Mode solution in which the Status Area is not visible (i.e. there's no "Continue" button)?
