in the unpacked directory of the updater there is another directory called Files, in which there is a msp file (msp, not msi) by running that file directly, I was able to update. Weird. Even more weird, here is what filext.com says about msp: "The MSP file type is primarily associated with 'Paint' by Microsoft Corporation." I guess we shouldn't be wondering why it works when it works... at least not when it comes to Microsoft. thanks alex

hi,  on Windows 8.1, Filemaker 11.0.1 installed successfully, but when trying to update it to .2 or .3, I get a window that seem to be a manual to a command line (see attached)  I've tried compatibility mode, troubleshooter... no luck  any suggestions?  thanks alex

hello, the short story: Filemaker 10 is crashing on Windows XP when viewing a record with a container field that has a previously inserted mp3 file. So i have created a test file with one table and a container field. When trying to insert an mp3 file, the file selector does not show the mp3 option, it only shows aif, au and wav files. i have to switch to showing all files to be able to insert the mp3 file. After insertion everything seems fine, the file shows QT controls and plays. If I close and reopen the test file, Filemaker just crashes. Any ideas, please? thanks alex

hi I had the same problem with a desktop computer with dual screen. I solved it by updating the video driver. Hope this works for you too Alex
