Execute script on host from IWP client

Hello all:

I have a client that is using FM pro 12, and wants other users in his office to have access to the solution. They are using this solution to generate letters to found sets in the db. I figured it would be really quick to just pop it up on IWP, but then noticed the print functionality doesn't work in IWP (and doesn't work on WebDirect either, so upgrading wouldn't help me). I was thinking about work-arounds and I was wondering if there is some plug-in or something I could do that would trigger a script on the hosting PC that could run the print script locally to send it to the printer?

... or any other workarounds that people have used?

I appreciate any insight you all can offer!

The usual mechanism for doing this is to use custom web publishing and one of the many PDF libraries available there to generate the PDF and download it to the client.

Printing is not supported from FileMaker Server either, so you might employ a "robot" machine that is connected to your FM Server that can Print to PDF, save in a container field so it can be available in the IWP session. That works.
