Filemaker Pro Advanced 15 - SLOW

Featured Replies

Hi

I wonder if someone else experienced this, i recently upgraded my filemaker licence to a 15 expecting it to  work better and more stable but to my surprise i find that it is a lot slower than 14, records take forever to sort and load and even just when trying to change from Layout mode to browse mode or vice versa it takes a couple of seconds longer than 14 did which i find very disrupting to my development.

H,

Can you provide us with more information? For instance what OS? Are you running FM Server? Are other users experiencing the same problems? Etc.

Did you create these files in 14, or are they Classic theme, i.e. Migrated from an earlier version of FileMaker?

Yes they were crerated in filemaker 14 and use the cool theme

Hi H,

I haven't experienced what you are describing. Could this be a Plugin that needs to be updated

Is this a standalone computer or being shared? Can you test this on a different machine?

One of the slow downs reported by others has to do with the themes Objects, Buttons, etc created in a different theme and not saved as the default. The article by Matt Petrowsky over at ISO Magazine called (Re)Theming Solutions  really is an eye opener, and this video and file by Richard Carlton called RCC Layout Optimizer - Under the Hood | FileMaker 14 Video Training has a nice tool for looking at the layouts. RCC FileMaker Layout Optimizer

Please let us know if you figure this out,
