Newbies joel_mackay Posted June 18, 2002 Newbies Posted June 18, 2002 hi I am running win2K with FMP unlimited 5.0v3 (web companion 5.0v6) and serving up ~15 DBs (none more than a couple of thousand records) with custom web publishing. The DBs are served up to people that may have any browser or OS. The whole thing works in general. However, FMP freezes from time to time, seemingly at random (although presumably not). Sometimes once a week, sometimes several times a day. I have noticed a couple of messages about this sort of thing before and comments in reply that Mac or Netscape requests may cause problems. Is this true? Can anyone point me to possible solutions? If it is caused by requests (rather than an internal problem) would i be better off using the Web Server Connector (i have a Linux machine running Apache which i could use as the server)? Would upgrading to 5.5 be any help - i though 5.0v3 was supposed to be win2K OK... thanks in advance. joel
IdealData Posted June 18, 2002 Posted June 18, 2002 You're right about Netscape on Mac. I did some tests on 5.0v6 and Netscape would freeze FMP (not Unlimited, though) on demand. Opera also did the same, but Explorer seemed OK.
Garry Claridge Posted June 18, 2002 Posted June 18, 2002 Certainly, 5.5v2 (WebCompanion 5.5v3) fixes this problem. All the best. Garry
