jimpres Posted June 26, 2002 Posted June 26, 2002 I published a file/layout to the web with web companion. No problem. I then added some text and new fields. I closed the file on the server. I Opened the file on the server. I went to the web and when I opened the file the new text and fields were not sidplayed Anyone have and idea why the new field and text do not show up? Also any changes to existing text shows up fine.
KentL Posted June 26, 2002 Posted June 26, 2002 If you're using instant web publishing, it should show right away. One problem could be that if you are connected to the web via a proxy, it may be sending you a cached page. If not, try clearing the cache of your browser. If it still doesn't show, make sure the fields are in the body section only of the layout. Let me know if any of this helps.
jimpres Posted June 26, 2002 Author Posted June 26, 2002 I am using instant web publishing. I agree it should be instant but it is not. All fields are in the body. All visible. Duplicating existing text and adding it in the body does not show up either. If I change existing test that works. I'm confused.
Bob White Posted June 26, 2002 Posted June 26, 2002 Also, the newly added field should be in whichever layout was chosen for the web display "form".... If it was only added to a different layout than the chosen one, it will not display.
The Bridge Posted June 26, 2002 Posted June 26, 2002 I don't use IWP myself, but perhaps re-selecting the layout in the Web Companion set-up (under Sharing) might help.
laker_42 Posted June 27, 2002 Posted June 27, 2002 We experienced something similar to this. One thing we found was that if we were getting to the page via a link or shortcut that was created before we made the changes then the changes would not show up. We had to then access it by going to the homepage and then clicking on that link. IWP does some strange things. We changed the whole layout to one of our DBs we published via IWP and we had created links to the DB on our Intranet before we made the changes. When we would click on the link it would still take us to the old layout which didn't exist anymore. I would play around with that. It seems that it is hard to get the page to actually refresh in the browser. I would have to close out of IE and go back in sometimes to get the page to refresh. It is very frustrating working with IWP but it is handy sometimes also. Good luck, John
jimpres Posted June 27, 2002 Author Posted June 27, 2002 I appreciate all the help. I'm still struggleing with this problem. What is strange is that when I select existing text and modify it it shows up in the browser. If I dup the text and add it to the layout it does NOT show up. And any new text or fields on that layout do not show up. I refresh the file by closing it then opening it and then using the browser to access the changes.
