opening a filemaker file automatically every 20 minutes

Featured Replies

I need to have a utility that will sit on windows and open a file every 20 minutes. This will open my opener file that then opens all my website databases. So if filemaker crashes it will be restarted by this file and I can sleep at night

If you are on a MAC, use applescript. First you will want to cheack and see if the application file is open, otherwise it will open up your opener database every 20 min.

Hmm, our web server did not crashed yet in past 2 years.

If the machine restarts, just start-up your opener database.

At Windows platform you can schedule plenty of things AFAIK.

If the web server crashes and stays down, the databases cannot be reopened with a script (or whatever) that runs every 20 minutes.

If the web server crashes and restarts itself, then simply placing an opener file in the startup items will ensure that the databases are reopened -- as long as they are not corrupted of course.

Nothing fancy needed here.
