ctoupin Posted September 5, 2001 Posted September 5, 2001 Hi, I try the database Pop3it to receive e-mail by File Maker. It work perfectly. But I want to share this database on the web to create a forum where people send e-mail and can see automaticly her message on the web site. But after I have create a page to call the information in the database with CDML it's not work. When I go to see my page they say to me that the database was not open! It's not true and my database was connect with the plug-in Web Companion to share information on the web. So, if my others databse work perfectly on the web, why this one cannot work? It's possible that it was only a stupid little detail but if someone can help me... Thank!
Anatoli Posted September 5, 2001 Posted September 5, 2001 Is the db shared via WebCompanion? Has the security database proper entry? Are other databases on the same machine OK?
Keith M. Davie Posted September 5, 2001 Posted September 5, 2001 Why use email? Why not just allow the client to enter text directly into a field in a new record and edit if necessary via your website? Custom Publishing will allow you to do many things. If you are using Instant Publishing, that is probably part of the problem.
Anatoli Posted September 6, 2001 Posted September 6, 2001 RE: -Has the security database proper entry? : I'm not sure what you mean... It's possible that it's the problem... You must use built in passwords or security database. Look into WC preferences.

Keith M. Davie Posted September 8, 2001 Posted September 8, 2001 " I know your solution it's more easy but it's not what want my boss!" Perhaps your boss would like to hire me to help you reinvent the wheel. Sounds like s/he has a lot of money to burn. I'm available at a high price.
