The past two weeks or so, almost every time I open a page on this site, I get a message that Safari can't open the page. After sometimes 3 or 4 reloads, the page opens.

Chrome never has a problem.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is it a setting in Safari or in the forum software?

I have not seen this myself - but will look at the logs. Is it possible you visit the site from a bookmark that is http not https? That has caused problems before.

Hey Doug,

I have not experience this either.

Your address is the same as I use,  https://fmforums.com/discover/unread/

You probably have already tried these things, but it usually fixes Safari for me.

Close all tabs and restart Safari.

Restart my Mac.

Clear caches

Clear History.

It occurred to me that the problem started about the same time as I installed Avast Antivirus. So just for the halibut, I uninstalled Avast. I haven't seen the problem since.

Hi Doug,

I'm not familiar with Avast, but I have had trouble caused by utilities such as MacKeeper, CleanMyMac, and Mac Cleaner. The only antivirus that Apple recommends is  Malwarebytes.

If you haven't tried it,  Malwarebytes is free and you may be shocked at what it finds.
