jbh83 Posted July 16, 2002 Posted July 16, 2002 Hello folks. I've got a FMP 5.5 database that is on the web using a custom web interface. I have defined groups and passwords for the file, but when I try testing the database, It doesn't prompt me for a password before accessing the data. Is there a filemaker solution to this, or am i going to have to use an external something to deal with this? Jackson Hewlett
Keith M. Davie Posted July 16, 2002 Posted July 16, 2002 There is FMPro security and there is Web Security. You can use one or the other, but you cannot use both in a browser solution. As the developer you should be able to control what your clients view through the design of your solution. It can be accomplished in many ways.
Garry Claridge Posted July 16, 2002 Posted July 16, 2002 Use the Web Security Database. All the best. Garry
jbh83 Posted July 17, 2002 Author Posted July 17, 2002 Web security database? I'm afraid I'm not familiar with that. Is there anyone who would like to provide a brief explanation or at least point me to a resource that would explain how to use it? (for what it's worth, the use web security db option in the web companion config screen is fuzzed out) thanks Jackson
Garry Claridge Posted July 17, 2002 Posted July 17, 2002 The Web Security database option will 'greyed-out' if the Database is not open. Your manual gives a very brief description of how to use the database. However, more information is available from a paper on the Filemaker site. Some threads exist on the forum about Web Security. All the best. Garry
Anatoli Posted July 21, 2002 Posted July 21, 2002 Some threads exist on the forum about Web Security. Garry Those threads refer more to lack of security. BTW -- was it improved in v. 6?
