"... you mean these fans?" Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 (edited) Is there a way to tell FileMaker to bypass/ignore the current default pdf viewer ( Adobe ) and use the default PDF viewer ( Preview ) that came with thier machine ( mac ) ? We do not require any level of sophistication with a pdf viewer other than the required ability to print the pdf. For some reason the clients default Adobe pdf viewer is erroring with a corrupt file message. Thank you. Mr. Ignoramus Edited May 6, 2019 by "... you mean these fans?"
comment Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 This is very confusing. If by "the current default pdf viewer ( Adobe )" you mean the Adobe component used to interact with PDF files in an interactive container field, then the answer is no. You cannot tell the FMP application to use another library. However, you can export the PDF (if it is stored internally) and open it using the Preview application.
"... you mean these fans?" Posted May 6, 2019 Author Posted May 6, 2019 Comment, I am using this script step ...
mr_vodka Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 I believe this would be set by their machine as to what application is the default when opening various file types.
"... you mean these fans?" Posted May 9, 2019 Author Posted May 9, 2019 (edited) Yes - we were able to get the default pdf viewer (Previewer ) to open the file but we got the same error message. This was my initial hope that the system pdf viewer would work but nope; File corrupt unable to open - same message as before. Spoke to a FileMaker guy in the area who said it sounds like a Font issue ( TrueType ) - provided a thread ... he also believe since it is only one computer that this individual has migrated Illustrator ( Adobe PhotoShop ) from an older machine to a newer machine when he updated ( says it's new machine ). We are still looking into what exactly or where exactly we need to work to fix the issue for this one computer. Thank you. Edited May 9, 2019 by "... you mean these fans?"
