change file name plug-in

Featured Replies

Does anyone know where can I download a plug-in that changes filenames ?

Luiza

The Filemaker Developer Tool is used to rename/relink a set of Filemaker files.

Troi File plugin can rename files in general.

If you are talking about changing FP5 files names internal to your solution, you need to use FM Developer. If you care talking about renaming other files on your disk, the Troi File Plugin will do the trick.

I

FM Developer will change filenames, and if a relationship uses the filename, it will also be changed. However, Developer has some bugs, so some filenames will not be changed at all, but this involves using/making kiosks.

I have no idea what is a kiosk, could you please explain me what a kiosk is ?

Luiza

A kiosk removes all FM menus, so the developer must provide the navigation. There probably is an example on the FM Install CD. I know for sure that Developer screws up changing filenames with a kiosk. Some of the experts on the forum may know whether or not it has a problem with just changing file names in non-kiosk mode..

I use the renaming/relinking function of Filemaker Develper Tool all the time, several times per week at least and I have never had a problem.

Of course I cannot vouch for the veracity of the kiosk problems since I do not use that function.

Fear not on the normal renaming process, it is pretty much flawless.
