error nrs meaningfull displayed in browser?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Instead of ERR#504 when adding a record to the database, I would like to give the user a meaningfull explanation on what went wrong.

Any idea how to do this?

Thanks,

Sure. Put a CDML [iF] statement on the error html page that contains the appropriate message. Error 504 is "value in field does not meet unique validation entry options" so if possible make the error specific to the fields that may be causing the problem... "That e-mail address is already entered into the database, please use a different address."

Thanks Vaughan,

is it possible to have more than 1 If statement on the errorpage?

explaining all the most common errornumbers?

How does the hml code look like?

Thanks

You should nest the IFs on the error page: note the location of the "generic" error response right at the bottom...

If error=401

response for 401

else

If error=501

response for 501

else

If error=402

response for 402

else

If error=406

response for 406

else

generic response

End IF

End IF

End IF

End IF

Why not, just go for it. WebCompanion will evaluate all IFs in split second and will construct HTML page just with single IF.
