burnsy Posted August 17, 2002 Posted August 17, 2002 Is it possible to host database(s) on your own computer but have all the format files hosted on another ISP? If so...how do I re-direct the -db and -format tags to go to the database on my computer. I am running Windows and my database is in this directory: c:/ddrive/filemaker 5.0/web/database.fp5 Thanks!
Kurt Knippel Posted August 17, 2002 Posted August 17, 2002 I am not a web guru so take this all with a grain of salt. Since everything is referenced via URLs the pieces can be located whereever you wish the referencing URL will specify the location.
Anatoli Posted August 17, 2002 Posted August 17, 2002 That is correct for static files and use it especially for pictures, but not for -Format=invoice.htm CDML files. Everything like this must sit in web folder -- up to v. 6. Six has two choices; web folder and "hidden" web folder for format files. In theory you can have WSConnector somewhere and 1-5... Unlimited machines somewhere else.
burnsy Posted August 17, 2002 Author Posted August 17, 2002 So I guess this isn't possible: -format=http://www.anywhere.com/search_results.htm Thanks again!
Anatoli Posted August 17, 2002 Posted August 17, 2002 RE: So I guess this isn't possible: -format=http://www.anywhere.com/search_results.htm This cannot be possible, because this will not put the values into CDML tags from any database. That is the main thing, regardless of local or distant CDML/HTML page
burnsy Posted August 19, 2002 Author Posted August 19, 2002 Thanks everyone. I really appreciate the help!
