Access Privileges - FM Server 5.5

Featured Replies

I have a database hosted by FM Server 5.5 for which I set certain fields as read-only for particular passwords. However, when hosted through FM Server 5.5, users can edit these fields. Any ideas why this happens.

Unknown, are you SURE 100% POSITIVE that the passwords that the user is using is restriced to read/only?

How did you do that?

In the Access Privileges, you can toggle specific fields between editable, non accessible and read only.

Yes, in Access yes, not as you said before -- in passwords.

Now, how are the Groups set up?

What problem?

I have four layouts that can only be accessed if either of two passwords is provided. If no password is used, these layouts are and should be grayed out. However, if FileMaker Server is hosting the file, all bets are off. While most of the other permissions remain correct, anyone logged into the file (with or without a password) can view all layouts.

ssfire posted another thread with the same complaint. This other thread (FileMaker Server --> Layout permissions on FMS 5.5 by ssfire) gave more details and indicated that the access level protections worked off of Server 5.5 but not on Server 5.5 (Win2000). My response was to check what "Status(CurrentGroups) was returning. Wonder if there is really something here? There have been some recent code changes in this area...
