Help: can't access Filemaker database webpages

My department uses FMP5.0 unlimited webcompanion to do customed database publishing, it sits on PC NT4.0, port is 591. there is a firewall on the university network. there is no problem to access those webpages with blank access priviledge setting; it is also ok through university network, when the databases set access password for editing, but certain outside networks can not access those webpages, the message is "database is not open". I couldn't find out why this happened, any help will be very appreciated.

Have you tried using the Web Security database, not Access Privilages? I think the Web Security database is what you need.

All the best.

Garry

Has it ever worked, or are you just starting out?

Be sure that the databases are open with a password that allows exporting.

Do your cgi calls specify port 591?

thank you all. I have done testings following your suggestions, it turns out the problem is likely on the proxy.

pls try the following webpages:

1. http://137.132.146.136:591/calendar/

<anonymous is allowed to browse and print records>

2. http://137.132.146.136:591/artt/fmpro?-db=artt.fp5&-format=search.htm&-view

<anonymous is allowed to browse, print and export records>

3. http://137.132.146.136:591/casalib/ (search)

<no setting on privileges>

dial up through Singnet, use singnet proxy, no page can be viewed

dial up through Singnet, use university proxy, all can be viewed

any comments and suggestions?

Probably the proxy is not open for port 591!
