Hi guys,

Here's a question for you - I'm sure that there's an answer to this somewhere!

In Filemaker 6 I believe that you have the ability to drag and drop images that have been uploaded from a digital camera. But, to my dismay, Mac OS X can actually import directly from a USB digital camera! Buggers, why create a feature and expect everyone to upgrade to Macs all over the office - surely cross platform means it should be possible for FEATURES to work on both Mac and PC!!!!!!

Anyway, I am writing a medical database for a cosmetic surgery and they are not computer literate. If filemaker will accept a hard disk location for an image instead of putting the image directly into the database, then how do you automate the creation of a folder in Windows to put in pictures relating to specific clients? I'm asking for a PC version of an applescript I suppose! When you create a new client in Filemaker, I want it to set up the Image Library Hard drive with a folder for any images to go in - there's got to be an easy way!!!! I could do it but the receptionist probably can't - RESULT - deleting other people's images!!!!!

I hope this makes sense, it's an important one!!

Thanks guys

Using native FIleMaker features, you'll be struggling. But you might like to take a look at a couple of options using plug-ins to extend FileMaker's funtionality in the direction you have in mind:

DialogMagic from New Millenium Communications (shareware):

http://www.newmillennium.com/

File Toolbox from Protolight (freeware):

http://www.protolight.com/plPLUGs.html

In either case there are functions available which might be of use to you...

Ray should have also mentioned the Troi plugins. They will make your life a lot easier. And for the ultimate in messing around on a PC, look at WinBatch...it can do virtually anything (www.wilsonware.com)
