September 3, 200223 yr Hi guys, Here's a question for you - I'm sure that there's an answer to this somewhere! In Filemaker 6 I believe that you have the ability to drag and drop images that have been uploaded from a digital camera. But, to my dismay, Mac OS X can actually import directly from a USB digital camera! Buggers, why create a feature and expect everyone to upgrade to Macs all over the office - surely cross platform means it should be possible for FEATURES to work on both Mac and PC!!! Anyway, I am writing a medical database for a cosmetic surgery and they are not computer literate. If filemaker will accept a hard disk location for an image instead of putting the image directly into the database, then how do you automate the creation of a folder in Windows to put in pictures relating to specific clients? I'm asking for a PC version of an applescript I suppose! When you create a new client in Filemaker, I want it to set up the Image Library Hard drive with a folder for any images to go in - there's got to be an easy way! I could do it but the receptionist probably can't - RESULT - deleting other people's images!! I hope this makes sense, it's an important one!! Thanks guys
September 3, 200223 yr Using native FIleMaker features, you'll be struggling. But you might like to take a look at a couple of options using plug-ins to extend FileMaker's funtionality in the direction you have in mind: DialogMagic from New Millenium Communications (shareware): http://www.newmillennium.com/ File Toolbox from Protolight (freeware): http://www.protolight.com/plPLUGs.html In either case there are functions available which might be of use to you...
September 3, 200223 yr Ray should have also mentioned the Troi plugins. They will make your life a lot easier. And for the ultimate in messing around on a PC, look at WinBatch...it can do virtually anything (www.wilsonware.com)
September 5, 200223 yr I'm with Steve, Troi File is very useful as a cross platform solution to this problem. -bd
