mallikai Posted September 8, 2002 Posted September 8, 2002 i didn't know which main topic to put this under... multi-user environment...windows xp host...with 2 nt, one mac os x, one windows xp (fmpro 5.5) i would like to have filemaker as an email client for all employees..however, i have tested all the email plugins and none of them offer smtp authorization (as of yet). (i've tried dacon's, dbmail, comm-unity, etc.) I'm using dsl like but our mail is not thru same dsl service and the company has had email id's for years. my main problem is figuring out a way of receiving emails in such a way that either entourage, outlook express, or outlook can import them into filemaker (somehow automatically)... sending emails is not a problem... i've scripted it the only way i've figured out receiving is to export emails from outlook to file, then import them into filemaker...however, outlook doesn't export the dates? which I find odd... anyway...any help would be appreciated...i was thinking something like scripting a button in filemaker to receive, which would send a message to outlook to start and check mail which, outlook would have an automated export of received mail to text and filemaker would pause then import saved received mail...but that seems a bit complicated... any help would be appreciated... thanks
Pupiweb Posted September 8, 2002 Posted September 8, 2002 SMTPit version 3 by CNS (http://www.cnsplug-ins.com) does support authentication. Plug> Once there take a look at FileM@iler, it seem to do what you're asking for Plug/>
falkaholic Posted September 9, 2002 Posted September 9, 2002 One idea *if* you just want email to be sent between office worker only, is to make a emulated email database. For example, you can make a new database that is bassiclly to and from fields. In another database you can have a portal listing all records to the current user. To send a new email, you make a new record in the email database. Might be more trouble then its worth, but just throwing out ideas!
mallikai Posted September 11, 2002 Author Posted September 11, 2002 i've tried the filemailer plugin as well... my problem is I use verizon dsl for internet use buy my email is thru at&t... i have successfully configured my email to be received thru outlook express but can't seem to duplicate it on any of the plugins...i know that i need to check ssl and i need to change the port numbers which i have done...and i still can't get or receive... thanks
