OLE, link vs embed ?

Featured Replies

I've recently set up a file for scanned images (2x2 slides). We have huge slide collection and I wanted to digitize and catalog these for easy access and use in PowerPoint presentations.

After some reading I decided to link the OLE objects in a container for each record. This is supposed to decrease the file size as well as allowing for updates, etc.. I have found the file size to be about 50% larger than the sum total of all the scanned images.

What is the deal with that? The few other fields in the file contain only a small amount of data. Why is it so freaking large? I might as well embed the images instead of linking to them.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!!
