How did they do this?

Featured Replies

I saw an example of this...but not quite sure how it was done.

A main job database. Each record represents a job. A second database which contains a record for each contact.

The user opens the main database. The user hits an add button, the second contact database comes up, you select one of the records from a list view, the contact databse closes, and a line item representing the selected contact is added to the main database on the first line of what could either be a portal or a multi-line field with a scroll bar.

Hit the add button again and do the process over again and a second line is added with the next contact. Go to another record in the main database and the same process can be repeated, choosing either the same contacts or different ones.

Pretty cool stuff. But not quite sure what the relationship would be based upon to get this to work differently from record to record without new records having to be added to the contact database for it to work.

Most likely goto related record show only related records.

when you click on the item it adds the id of the record into a global. then it hides the window or brings the other window up

The first database would grab the id that is in the global then run a script to put it in a field or in another portal or what have you.

If you are associating jobs to customers most likely you are adding the job id to a multi key in the contact record

once you have a link it would appear in the job file through the relationship.
